I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I have many years of experience as a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Coach. My intention is to provide a safe, non-judgemental, comfortable space for us to explore any issues affecting you.
It may be that you have specific life experiences that you want to work through, or you are in need of offloading everyday stress and searching for peace of mind. Together we can explore what you hope to gain from coming into therapy. I will support you in discovering what is best for you and how to recognise your own resources. I am a warm, down to earth person and believe that we all have the potential to experience more satisfying and fulfilling lives. Some people like to take their time to explore the past, others want to set goals and ‘get to work’. I believe it is important to tailor the therapy to suit the individual, there’s no right or wrong, just preferences. I work with individuals as well as supervising other Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I have been a Counsellor in various settings for over 22 years and have a Diploma in Contemporary Psychotherapy. I began my training in 1992 as a Work Scholar at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. I have continued training over the years obtaining qualifications including Counselling Skills and Theory 1996-1998. In 2003 I started working towards my Diploma with the Beeleaf Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, completing training in Systemic Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy and Intermediate Skills of Contemporary Psychotherapy. I have a Diploma in Supervision with the Gestalt Centre in London and offer Integrative Supervision.
I believe strongly in professional development and have continued studying and completed courses in Ericksonian Hypno-Psychotherapy, Psychopathology in Psychotherapeutic Practice, Systemic Family Therapy and C.B.T (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). In September 2010 I achieved my FDAP Certificate in Supervisory Management and Leadership Techniques qualification with the Human Performance Group.
I have worked with a mixture of client groups across Essex and East London. Until 2012 I was employed for 8 years at a busy charity in Grays, Essex, as a Contemporary Psychotherapist for the Interventions Team and as Service Manager of the Young Peoples Substance Misuse Project.
As well as seeing clients and supervising, I am also an Independent Clinical Consultant for a local Counselling Bereavement Service, and provide supervision to secondary schools and individuals.
I have a passion for my work with people and am committed to good ethical practice. I am Accredited with The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am also on the Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I am a full member of the Community for Contemporary Psychotherapy and have regular supervision with a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I now only offer clinical supervision. I enjoy working with both new and experienced practitioners as well as students.
I have been a Counsellor/Psychotherapist for over 27 years, but my experience dates back much earlier than that. I became interested in therapy in the late 1970s and participated in many groups.
In the 1980s, my wife and daughter and I moved to California where we took part in experiential trainings including spending time with Jenny O’Connor at Esalen Institute, Big Sur, where we met Richard Price, Janet Zuckerman, Janet Lederman, and Betty Fuller. When we returned to England, I gained valuable experience as a nurse on an acute admission ward in a psychiatric hospital. I learned a lot from the patients. Then I worked at a drug and alcohol agency counselling people with various forms of addictions. In 1994 I was employed as a counsellor at the University of East London in the student services department. This gave me the opportunity to counsel people from cultures and countries all over the world. I have also worked for Essex County Council and provided clinical supervision for many agencies and individuals.
In 1994 I was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling with Distinction. In 1996 I was Accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy; I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist. In 1998 I was awarded an M. A. in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also registered on the Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I am a member of the BACP with over 10 years experience. I have worked in various settings including substance misuse, and mental health within the NHS. I’m a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling and I’m certified in Counselling for Depression. I am committed to continuing my professional development. Experiencing a variety of environments has enabled me to work with a diverse group of individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
Whether you’re seeking support in exploring specific life experiences or you’re in need of a space to understand yourself and any difficulties affecting you, I work within a range of therapeutic approaches to ensure a tailored experience focused on each individual’s needs.
My intention is to provide you a warm, safe and comfortable environment where we can explore your reasons for entering into therapy. I will listen to you carefully and non-judgementally. Together we can engage in identifying your inner skills, allowing you to build on your emotional wellbeing and work towards a place where you feel you have processed your experience and more able to move forward with your life.
I am an ethical practitioner and adhere to BACP ethical guidelines which include attending regular clinical supervision.
My office is in a quiet road in Upminster, Essex. I provide a mixture of appointment times dependant on availability.
